Where is the site of bone metastasis of lung cancer

Where does lung cancer metastasize to the bones?

The sites of bone metastasis of lung cancer may be the ribs, spine, pelvis, etc. There are many possible sites for metastasis, and the diagnosis is made based on a comprehensive assessment of the patient's symptoms.

1. Ribs: When lung cancer metastasizes to the ribs, it can cause chest pain, which is often manifested as pain limited to the chest wall and with clear tenderness points. As the disease worsens, the symptoms will also worsen, and the pain will be more obvious during exercise and at night.

2. Spine: When lung cancer metastasizes to the spine, the patient may experience limb weakness, back pain, burning sensation, tingling, etc. If the spinal cord metastasizes, it can also cause pain in the middle of the back or the lesion site and symptoms of spinal cord compression.

3. Pelvis: When lung cancer metastasizes to the pelvis, the patient may experience local tenderness, increased activity, or poor limb movement. At this time, tumor cells may erode bone tissue and destroy the bone structure, causing pathological pelvic fractures.

In addition to the above-mentioned sites, lung cancer bone metastasis can also occur in the long bones of the limbs. Patients are advised to actively treat lung cancer to avoid delaying the disease and causing bone metastasis. For bone metastasis sites, if it is a single bone metastasis, active treatment can also be considered. Please consult an orthopedic surgeon to consider whether there is an opportunity for surgery. If there is no opportunity for surgery, palliative radiotherapy can be performed to reduce the pain and discomfort caused by bone metastasis.
