What are the symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer

What are the symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer?

The incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer in men is much higher than that in women. Genetic factors are more common in patients with nasopharyngeal cancer. The occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer is obviously regional, and viral infection is also one of the factors leading to the disease. Various chemical carcinogens can change the sensitivity of the mucosa to carcinogens.

Generally, there will be headaches, which are more prone to one side and intermittent. Symptoms such as nasal congestion, ear closure, tinnitus, numbness, diplopia, and dangerous droop may also occur. It often occurs in the nasopharyngeal recess and the anterior wall of the top. The primary cancer breaks through the surface mucosa and bleeds. After getting up in the morning, nasal secretions often have blood streaks or blood clots, which is also one of the early symptoms. During the examination, the neck mass is hard, the surface nodules are small, and it is not easy to promote adhesion with the surrounding area. Sometimes they merge with each other to become a huge mass in the entire neck.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma directly invades lymph nodes and metastasizes to the posterior part of the styloid process or the hypoglossal nerve canal. The hypoglossal nerve is invaded, causing the tongue to stretch to the affected side, accompanied by atrophy of the tongue muscles on the affected side. Advanced cancer is prone to metastasis to the brain and distant sites such as bones, liver, and lungs. If patients do not receive treatment, their nasal congestion will worsen, mainly unilateral nasal congestion. If the tumor blocks both sides, the condition will be more out of control, and bilateral nasal congestion may occur in the nostrils.
