How to identify melanoma

How to identify melanoma

Melanoma is common in certain populations. The first and most common type of patient is men over 60 years old. The second type of patient has a personal or family history, for example, someone in his family has a history of melanoma, or he himself has had it before, or he has some skin cancer on his skin, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or some precancerous lesions, such as solar keratosis. People with underlying diseases are more likely to develop melanoma.

The third point is that it is related to sunlight exposure. If you are exposed to sunlight repeatedly, chronically and for a long time, you are also prone to melanoma.

The fourth point is that it is related to race. We say that Caucasians are more likely to develop melanoma than Asians.

So how do we tell if a rash is melanoma? We need to see, first of all, that the rash grows very fast. In a few months, its area doubles. This is the first point, the growth rate is fast.

The second point is that its color has changed. It was not very black originally, or the color darkened a lot in a short period of time, or the color became diverse. There are black, red, and brown, diverse skin lesions in the same cortex.

The third point is that if the area is larger than six millimeters, or there are some satellite lesions around the rash, or the rash appears ulcerated, itchy, or painful, then we will recommend the patient to undergo a biopsy and pathological examination, which is the gold standard for diagnosing melanoma.
