What is the stage of gastric cancer? How to treat it? How long can you survive

Clinically, cancer is generally divided into four stages: I, II, III and IV. Stage I is early gastric cancer; stage II is mid-stage gastric cancer; stage III is advanced gastric cancer; and stage IV is advanced gastric cancer.

1. Stage I: At this stage, the tumor is confined to the mucosal layer or the superficial muscle layer under the mucosa, and there is no lymph node metastasis or invasion of distant organs. Surgical resection of the lesion is usually used for radical treatment, and the 5-year survival rate can reach more than 90%;

2. Stage II: The patient may have local lymphadenopathy, but there is no regional lymph node metastasis. It is recommended to use radiotherapy or chemotherapy to assist in controlling the progression of the disease, and use drugs such as oxaliplatin injection under the guidance of a doctor to relieve symptoms. The 3-4 year survival rate is 78%-96%, and the specific time varies from person to person;

3. Stage III: At this time, there may be multiple primary lesions and multiple metastases, and timely palliative surgery is required under the doctor's operation, supplemented by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatment methods to improve the prognosis, improve the quality of life, and prolong the life span. The average survival time of such patients is about 18 months;

4. Stage IV: If the disease has metastasized to the liver, lungs, bones, brain and other organs, it is the most serious type. At this time, the disease cannot be cured and can only be treated symptomatically, such as using painkillers to relieve pain and other symptoms, and actively preventing complications, thereby prolonging life. The average survival time of patients at this stage is only six months to one year.

For people with gastric cancer, they should pay attention to maintaining a good attitude, avoid excessive tension and anxiety, and try to choose light and easily digestible foods, such as millet porridge or pumpkin porridge, which can supplement the nutrients needed by the body, help strengthen the physical fitness and promote recovery from the disease.
