Should I check TG after partial thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer

During hemisection of thyroid cancer, it is necessary to check Tg, or thyroid-stimulating hormone, including total T3, total T4, free T3, and free T4, and thyroglobulin antibodies and calcitonin need to be tested. Hemisection of thyroid cancer is to remove most of the thyroid gland, and lymph node dissection may be performed at the same time. Thyroid function needs to be monitored after hemisection of thyroid cancer, including two antibodies, TSH level and thyroglobulin antibodies. Thyroid cancer is a large category of diseases, including papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma. Most thyroid cancers originate from follicular epithelial cells, accounting for 1% of total tumors in the body. In addition, there is medullary carcinoma. Generally, thyroid cancer is mainly treated with surgery, and long-term use of levothyroxine sodium tablets is required after surgery to supplement thyroid hormones and inhibit the secretion of thyroid-stimulating hormone.

Since the recurrence rate after thyroid cancer surgery is relatively high, patients are advised to have regular checkups after surgery to prevent metastasis and recurrence. After hemisection of thyroid cancer, patients also need to pay attention to their daily diet. They can eat more high-protein, high-vitamin, and high-fiber foods, avoid spicy, irritating, and greasy foods, reduce the irritation caused by food, and prevent recurrence of the disease. Patients should maintain a relaxed and happy mood in their daily lives, avoid excessive stress, and pay attention to regular work and rest, do not stay up late, keep warm, and prevent colds.
