How does thyroid cancer cause parenchymal echoes?

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. There are many reasons for the occurrence of parenchymal echoes, including detection technology problems, parenchymal lesions, lymph node metastasis, vascular follicular hyperplasia, etc. It is recommended to seek medical attention in a timely manner to identify the cause and choose appropriate treatment methods according to different causes.

1. Detection technology issues: If it is early thyroid cancer, most solid masses are accompanied by low echoes. If the detection is inaccurate, solid echoes caused by solid lesions may appear. Further examination is recommended to clarify the diagnosis. If necessary, surgical resection and pathological examination are required to avoid missed diagnosis;

2. Solid lesions: mainly refers to thyroid tumors. Generally, there are obvious calcification foci inside the solid mass, or there are signs of malignant tumors such as abundant peripheral blood flow and unclear boundaries, which can be manifested as solid echoes of the thyroid gland. Further magnetic resonance imaging is required, and if necessary, surgical biopsy is performed to clarify the nature of the lesion for subsequent treatment;

3. Lymph node metastasis: Once thyroid cancer patients have lymph node metastasis, substantial echoes may appear, which may be accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue and weight loss. It is necessary to further improve the color Doppler ultrasound of the cervical lymph nodes. If the stage is early, surgical treatment can be performed. If the stage is late, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can be performed first, and surgical treatment can be performed after the tumor stage is reduced;

4. Vascular follicular hyperplasia: Local tumor growth leads to rich blood supply to local lymph nodes, which may also manifest as thyroid parenchymal echoes. It can be treated with iodine-131 or surgery.

If a patient is found to have solid thyroid lesions under ultrasound, further evaluation is required based on the characteristics of the lesion, clinical symptoms, etc., in order to make a clear diagnosis and provide targeted treatment.
