What should I do if my teeth become black due to tooth decay

Many people are confused about what solutions to choose for tooth decay and blackening. The most common methods now are medication or filling treatments, but in daily life we must pay attention to prevention, brush our teeth frequently, and maintain oral hygiene.

1 Grinding method

The grinding method is suitable for deciduous teeth with large areas of shallow caries, difficult cavity formation and poor retention of fillings. The method is to use a grinding stone to remove carious tissue and sharp points and edges, and polish the surface to eliminate the environment where food and plaque are retained, thereby stopping the development of caries.

2. Drug therapy

Drug therapy is suitable for treating shallow caries that have not yet formed defects, and can also be used as an auxiliary treatment after grinding. Commonly used drugs include 75% sodium fluoride glycerol, 8% stannous fluoride, etc. These fluoride-containing drugs can form fluorapatite on the tooth surface, promote remineralization of enamel demineralized areas, enhance the acid resistance of teeth, and thus stop the development of lesions.

3. Filling

Restoration is an effective and widely used method for treating caries. Filling is a treatment method that uses dental surgery to remove carious tissue, prepare the hole into a specified shape, and fill the hole with artificial materials while protecting the pulp to restore the shape and function of the tooth.

4 How to prevent

Before pit and fissure caries occur, if conditions permit, it is recommended to have a pit and fissure sealant done to prevent tooth decay (adults can also do this). If you already have cavities but they are not serious, it is recommended that you go to a regular dental medical institution for repairs in time. If the tooth has been damaged to the nerve of the tooth, root canal treatment is recommended. If even root canal treatment cannot remedy the problem, you can only have dentures.

Finally, I would like to emphasize again that if you find tooth decay, you must treat it promptly and do not delay. Otherwise, the treatment will become more expensive and it will also waste time and energy. For toothpaste, you can use fluoride toothpaste, which has the effect of inhibiting bacteria and improving the acid resistance of teeth.
