There is blood in my sputum today, could it be lung cancer?

Blood in sputum is not necessarily lung cancer. If the patient has not had lung cancer before and has no recent history of smoking, this may be caused by upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis and other diseases.

1. Not lung cancer

1. Upper respiratory tract infection: caused by rhinovirus, influenza virus, coronavirus and parainfluenza virus. Clinical manifestations include nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, coughing and other symptoms. Some patients may also have fever, sore throat, headache, dyspnea, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other discomfort symptoms. If the condition is severe, it may cause damage and bleeding of the throat mucosa, resulting in the above situation. It is recommended to use compound acetaminophen tablets, amoxicillin capsules and other drugs for treatment according to the doctor's advice;

2. Bronchitis: It is an inflammatory disease of the bronchus usually caused by microbial infection. Common pathogens include bacterial and viral infections. It is mainly manifested by recurrent coughing, sputum or wheezing. The above phenomenon can also be caused by rupture of blood vessels in the bronchial wall. You can take drugs such as dextromethorphan hydrobromide granules and levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules as prescribed by your doctor to relieve the symptoms.

Second, the situation of lung cancer

If you have had lung cancer in the past and have a recent history of smoking, this symptom may be caused by a recurrence of lung cancer. Because cancer cells will invade the lung tissue and surrounding organs, and even metastasize to other parts of the body, it will cause local irritation, resulting in blood in the sputum. At this time, you need to go to the hospital in time for further diagnosis through pathological examination, and cooperate with the doctor to actively undergo surgical resection treatment. At the same time, combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy are also needed to assist in improvement.

In daily life, we should develop good living habits, quit smoking and drinking, and avoid being in a secondhand smoke environment for a long time to avoid aggravating the condition. We should also have a reasonable diet, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, such as apples, bananas, dragon fruit, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc., and eat less spicy, stimulating and greasy foods, such as peppers, fried skewers, fatty meat, etc.
