How to recover from kidney damage caused by drinking

China has a long drinking culture. But everyone also knows that drinking for a long time is very unhealthy for the body. Everyone knows that drinking alcohol damages the kidneys, but do you know how to nourish the kidneys? In fact, the most important method is to not drink alcohol and reduce some lifestyle habits that are bad for the kidneys. This way, your kidneys can recover faster.

1. Drinking alcohol will increase the burden on kidney function

If you drink alcohol, you are drinking alcohol, which will affect the body's nitrogen balance, accelerate the decomposition of protein, and increase the content of urea nitrogen in the blood, thereby adding burden to the work of the kidneys.

2. Drinking alcohol affects the efficacy of kidney disease treatment drugs

Many people, even if they have kidney disease and are taking medicine, still cannot quit drinking. Drinking will affect the effectiveness of the medicine in treating kidney disease, because the ethanol contained in alcohol will affect the body's absorption of the medicine. Of course, some medicines will affect the normal metabolic function of ethanol in the body, which will cause the alcohol to be unable to be metabolized normally in the body. Once acetaldehyde accumulates to a certain level, it will naturally cause alcohol poisoning. The physical discomfort is still mild, but in severe cases it may be life-threatening.

In addition to inhibiting the efficacy of drugs for treating kidney disease, it also affects the efficacy of drugs for treating some other diseases.

For cardiovascular diseases, common drugs include reserpine, nitroglycerin, guanethidine, methyldopa, hydralazine, etc. These drugs all have the effect of dilating blood vessels. Once combined with alcohol, they will cause headaches, low blood pressure, high blood lipids, gastrointestinal discomfort, and even life-threatening.

For diabetic patients, commonly used blood sugar-lowering drugs include glibenclamide, biguanides, etc. If these drugs encounter alcohol in the body, a "disulfiram-like reaction" will occur. Reducing the body's anticoagulant effect may put diabetic patients at greater risk of bleeding.

3. Drinking alcohol can make kidney disease worse

Alcohol has a decomposing effect on substances that produce uric acid in the body, so when alcohol enters the body it will promote the formation of uric acid. Then the increase in uric acid will aggravate kidney disease. After the decomposition of alcohol, it will also produce substances such as lactic acid. These substances will also affect the function of the kidneys and hinder the excretion of uric acid in the body.

4. Drinking alcohol causes cardiovascular disease and aggravates kidney disease

The substances contained in alcohol can stimulate the central nervous system of the human brain, causing the blood vessels to constrict and blood pressure to rise. Therefore, people with kidney disease cannot drink alcohol, otherwise it will definitely damage the kidneys and aggravate the condition.
