How to prevent liver cancer? Doing 5 things in daily life can prevent liver cancer

Experts point out that children suffering from liver cancer are more likely to be infected with the HDV virus, also known as the hepatitis B virus. Some children are infected with this virus congenitally, such as their mothers are patients with three positives, and some are infected later in life. Basically, children with liver cancer are mainly infected with the hepatitis B virus, so my country will promote free hepatitis B vaccination for children. Secondly, even if some families have no history of liver cancer, it is possible that adults carry the hepatitis B virus and it has not turned into cancer, but children have lower immunity, and infection with the hepatitis B virus may turn into cancer.

How to prevent liver cancer in daily life

1. Pay attention to drinking water safety

A. Some drinking water is often contaminated by polychlorinated biphenyls, chloroform, etc.; B. Blue-green algae growing in ponds are strong carcinogenic plants; C. Infection with Clonorchis sinensis can stimulate the proliferation of bile duct epithelium and lead to primary bile duct cancer.

2. Pay attention to prevent hepatitis

Experts say that hepatitis is an important factor leading to liver cancer. Using hepatitis vaccines to prevent hepatitis and liver cancer has become one of the most promising ways to prevent liver cancer, but it is estimated that it will take decades to see results. It has been proven that hepatitis B vaccines are effective in preventing hepatitis. However, from a comprehensive perspective, the prevention of HCV and HDV still needs to be considered.

3. Throw away moldy food at home

Especially moldy corn and peanuts, because these foods contain aflatoxin. The metabolite of aflatoxin, aflatoxin B1, can cause liver cancer. It is recommended to eat more fresh food.

4. Pay attention to proper selenium supplementation

To prevent liver cancer, we should also pay attention to proper selenium supplementation. For people with low selenium, selenium-enriched yeast, selenium polysaccharides, selenium-enriched salts, etc. should be used to supplement selenium and increase blood selenium levels.

5. Regular physical examination is the simplest way to detect liver cancer early

Regular physical examinations are recommended, especially for high-risk groups (patients with hepatitis B or C), who should ideally undergo alpha-fetoprotein (AFp) testing or B-ultrasound every six months to check for cancer.

What causes liver cancer in children?

Hepatoblastoma is a type of liver cancer and the most common malignant liver tumor in children. It originates from the embryonic tissue of the liver and accounts for 1% of all malignant tumors in children and 90% of malignant liver tumors in children. Among all hepatoblastoma patients, 4% occur in newborns, 68% occur within 2 years old, 90% occur within 5 years old, and only 3% of patients are older than 15 years old.

The pathogenesis of hepatoblastoma is still unclear. Some scholars believe that it is related to chromosomal abnormalities, maternal oral contraceptives, and alcohol abuse during pregnancy. The early symptoms are often atypical, and a considerable number of them are discovered by parents accidentally when they are changing clothes or bathing their children. In the later stages, children may experience upper or whole abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, diarrhea, varicose veins of the abdominal wall, fever, jaundice, and other symptoms.

Because the rapid growth of tumor cells increases the tension of the liver capsule and causes abdominal distension and pain, and most children will have elevated alpha-fetoprotein levels, the alpha-fetoprotein level and clinical manifestations can be used to determine whether the child has liver cancer. Once confirmed, treatment should be given. For those that can be surgically removed, surgical resection should be performed immediately and auxiliary chemotherapy should be given. For those that cannot be surgically removed, other means of treatment should be used.
