Lung cancer is the most common primary lung malignancy and the world's leading cancer killer, with nearly 1.2 million people dying from it each year. Therefore, prevention and early diagnosis of lung cancer are the key to reducing lung cancer mortality. At present, hospitals often use CT scans to diagnose lung cancer, but CT scans have their shortcomings. CT scans can only detect relatively obvious masses in the body, and there is nothing to do for early lung cancer without obvious symptoms. Doctors can only make judgments based on experience. Data show that the probability of chest CT scans detecting early lung cancer is only about 20%, and up to 70% of cancer patients are already in the middle or late stage of malignant tumors when they are detected, thus delaying the best time for treatment. Compared with CT, pET/CT examination has solved the long-standing problem of difficult diagnosis of early lung cancer. Its diagnostic accuracy for lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, etc. is over 90%. pET has advantages in diagnosing benign and malignant lesions in the lungs, and can accurately determine the status of lung cancer lymph node metastasis. For lesions with a diameter of 1.5 cm and lesions after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, pET has the highest naked eye diagnosis accuracy, achieving early detection and early treatment of the disease. However, there are many things to pay attention to when doing a pET-CT examination. Doing the following points will have a very good effect on the accuracy of the examination. 1. Drink plenty of water (6-8 glasses) within 2 hours before the examination, avoid strenuous exercise, and fast before the examination. A high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet is required; 2. Fast for at least 4-6 hours before injecting 18F-FDG (except water and therapeutic drugs) to reduce the physiological utilization of glucose in normal tissues and organs of the human body (such as heart, muscles, etc.) and ensure the priority uptake of 18F-FDG by tumor tissues. 3. For patients with diabetes, high blood sugar levels may reduce the uptake rate of FDG by tumor tissues and increase the physiological uptake and utilization of FDG by normal tissues (such as muscles and heart, etc.). Therefore, when injecting FDG, the fasting blood sugar concentration of the subject should be controlled within the normal range as much as possible. The most ideal blood sugar level should be less than 150mg/dl (8.3mmol/L). If the blood sugar level is higher than 200mg/dl (11.1mmol/L), consider using insulin, etc. 4. Patients who need medication for pain should continue to take medication before the PET examination. During the pre-PET examination, patients should be informed to bring the analgesics needed on the examination day. 5. Avoid taking sugar-containing drugs such as cough syrups and glycosides. |
