(1) Upper gastrointestinal bleeding: Bleeding accounts for about 15% of the causes of death from liver cancer. Liver cancer often causes portal hypertension, esophageal varices, or small vein congestion due to the presence of liver cirrhosis or portal vein or hepatic vein thrombosis. Once a blood vessel ruptures, vomiting blood and black stools occur. Advanced tumor patients may have extensive bleeding due to gastrointestinal mucosal decay and coagulation dysfunction.

(2) Hepatic encephalopathy: It is usually a complication of liver cancer in the terminal stage and causes the death of about one-third of cancer patients.

(3) Ruptured tumor bleeding and cancerous pleural effusion and ascites. About 10% of cancer patients die from ruptured cancerous nodules. Tumors may rupture spontaneously or due to external force when they grow, necrotize or liquefy. Rupture may be limited to the liver capsule, causing local pain; if the subcapsular bleeding increases rapidly, it will become a tender mass; it may also rupture into the abdominal cavity, causing acute abdominal pain and peritoneal irritation, and massive bleeding may lead to shock and death. A small amount of bleeding is clinically diagnosed as bloody ascites.

(4) Secondary infection: When patients with this disease have long-term consumption or leukopenia caused by radiation or chemotherapy, their resistance is reduced. In addition, they are bedridden for a long time, which makes them very likely to develop various infections such as encephalitis, sepsis, intestinal infection, etc.
