Which methods are most effective in treating liver cancer? The three most effective methods for treating liver cancer

(A) The “three magic weapons” treatment for liver cancer

Surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy are the "three magic weapons" for cancer and are the most common and important treatments for liver cancer.

1. Surgical treatment

So far, surgical resection, including liver cancer, is still the most common malignant tumor, including the most effective method of treatment, and currently, it is the main method for most cancer patients to be cured. Because liver cancer is discovered in the late stage, or because of cirrhosis, surgery cannot be tolerated, and the resection ratio is not high, early prevention, early detection, and early treatment are advocated. As long as early detection and Moffitt's research on the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer continues to improve, in the early asymptomatic stage of liver cancer, it can be found, and more and more patients with early liver cancer can be achieved. The results of surgery will be greatly improved. Fudan University, the Institute for the Governance of Liver Cancer Patients, has found that more than 400 cases of liver cancer patients have survived for more than 5 years, one hundred and twenty cases have survived for more than 10 years, and the longest survival is 40 years.

2. Radiation therapy

Radiation therapy is the use of radiation directly to tumor cells to fight disease. In the past, radiation therapy was the first choice of non-surgical treatment for liver cancer, in recent years, interventional radiology, and other appropriate slightly less local treatment drugs have been developed.

Radiation therapy is not suitable for the treatment of liver cancer that cannot be removed or is unwilling to intervene in the implementation of radiotherapy. In recent years, clinical practice has found that radiotherapy and interventional therapy combined with radiotherapy can significantly improve the efficacy of radiotherapy. In addition, Weifang Oriental Kidney Hospital said that local recurrence, lymph node metastasis and adrenal metastasis provide better results for radiotherapy. Combining radiotherapy with surgery, chemotherapy, immunization, drugs and other treatments will help further improve the efficacy.

3. Interventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy

Chemotherapy is the application of chemical drugs for treatment. In the past half century, chemotherapy has developed from a single application of chemotherapy drugs to a combination of various drugs. In addition to the original method of systemic intravenous chemotherapy, there are also new ways of adjuvant chemotherapy, adjuvant chemotherapy, chemotherapy (arterial special means, body cavity perfusion, etc.) and other new methods. Because while destroying cancer cells, chemotherapy drugs will also cause damage to the patient's body, it is not advisable to use systemic intravenous chemotherapy for primary liver cancer patients, and interventional treatment measures with less radiation damage are not recommended.

Radiation therapy is a new approach to chemotherapy developed in recent years. This method is to inject chemotherapy drugs through the hepatic artery blood supply of the liver duct, increase the local drug concentration, so as to improve the efficacy of chemotherapy drugs while reducing toxic side effects to other parts of the body.

Radiological interventional therapy is mainly suitable for liver cancer patients whose condition is not good enough to be operated on. At present, this method has become the surgical treatment of choice for patients with advanced primary liver cancer and non-cancer. The disadvantage is that it is ineffective for some secondary liver cancer and primary liver cancer, and can cause liver dysfunction.

(B) "New Weapon" in the Treatment of Liver Cancer

1. Local treatment mainly refers to some ultrasound-guided intratumoral puncture treatments, which aim to control or even cure tumor tissue necrosis by physical, chemical or radioactive destruction. The localized treatment methods currently used in clinical practice include: ultrasound-guided intratumoral injection of ethanol, acetic acid, etc.; percutaneous intratumor microwave coagulation therapy, laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation, high-temperature saline injection therapy, liquid nitrogen freezing, argon-helium knife, and high-intensity focused ultrasound.

2. Biological treatment of cancer is the fourth mode of cancer radiotherapy after surgery and chemotherapy. It mainly regulates the body's own biological response through the role of biological response modifiers in biological treatment, thereby inhibiting the growth of tumor treatment. At present, the main content of biological treatment of immunotherapy has expanded to the fields of immunotherapy, guided therapy, induced differentiation therapy and gene therapy.

In conclusion, the treatment of liver cancer is still a comprehensive treatment model dominated by surgery. Comprehensive treatment is not a feasible method, but it is believed that the priorities of the selected methods should be determined according to different cases, both overall and local, to achieve complementary effects. Inappropriate, excessive and abuse of various methods and drugs are sometimes counterproductive.
