What are the symptoms of thyroid cancer recurrence?

The recurrence time of various types of thyroid cancer ranged from 3 months to 30 years from the first surgery, with a median of 36 months. The recurrence time of papillary carcinoma was 3 months to 30 years, with a median of 36 months, follicular carcinoma was 5 months to 11 years, with a median of 36 months, medullary carcinoma was 3 months to 9 years, with a median of 7.5 months, and the two cases of clear cell carcinoma were 36 months and 48 months respectively. The symptoms of thyroid cancer recurrence were also different.

Tumor size and infiltration are closely related to the symptoms of thyroid cancer recurrence: the recurrence rate of microcancer with a tumor diameter of <1.0cm is only 9%, while the recurrence rates of thyroid cancer with a diameter of 1.0-3.0cm and >3.0cm are 40% and 45% respectively; the recurrence rate of extracapsular infiltration is 45%; and the recurrence rate of intracapsular growth is 20%.

If it is a metastatic lymph node, it will become larger, the number will increase, and the lymph nodes will look like a round shape, and some of them may look like beads. Generally, there will be no symptoms of thyroid cancer recurrence. If you encounter such symptoms, you can consider puncture under the guidance of B-ultrasound. If the puncture results suspect the presence of malignant cells, then surgery is required.
