What is an epididymal tumor? What are the common symptoms of epididymal tumors?

What is epididymal tumor? Epididymal tumor is one of the common tumors nowadays. The main population affected is men. If you suffer from this disease, it is not only difficult to treat, but also very painful for patients. Therefore, it is very important to understand this disease and take timely prevention measures, which also needs to be taken seriously.

Most epididymal tumors are primary, and a few are secondary. Secondary epididymal tumors can be direct infiltration of spermatic cord, testis and tunica vaginalis tumors, retrograde metastasis of prostate cancer, or spread of malignant tumors. Primary benign epididymal tumors account for about 4/5 of epididymal tumors, and primary malignant epididymal tumors account for about 1/5 of epididymal tumors.

The characteristics of this disease are that it can occur at any age, but is more common in 40-50 years old; the tumor is small and grows slowly, and may cause mild pain or no pain at all, and is often misdiagnosed as inflammation or tuberculosis; it is mostly unilateral and single, often occurring in the tail, followed by the head. Benign epididymal tumors include leiomyoma, adenoid tumor, cystadenoma, mesothelioma, hemangioma, fibroma, lymphangioma, teratoma, neurofibroma, sclerosteatoma, etc. Malignant tumors include adenocarcinoma, leiomyosarcoma, embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma, lymphosarcoma, malignant melanoma, etc. Epididymal tumors are difficult to diagnose before surgery, and ultrasound examination and puncture cytology examination are helpful for diagnosis.

Recommendation: For benign epididymal tumors, simple tumor resection or epididymal resection of the affected side can be performed. Testicles are male sexual organs, one on each side, and are normally located in the scrotum. Self-examination is very convenient. Therefore, epididymal tumors can be detected early.
