How many stages are there for cervical cancer? Can stage three and four cervical cancer be cured?

Cervical cancer can be divided into stages one to four based on tumor size, location, and invasion of surrounding tissues. The earlier the stage, the better the treatment effect.

Cervical cancer is staged based on tumor size, location, and invasion of surrounding tissues. There are four stages in total. Generally, the smaller the tumor and the more superficial it is, the earlier the stage. Stage I cervical cancer is confined to the cervix, stage II cervical cancer has extended beyond the uterus but has not reached the pelvic wall or the lower third of the vagina, stage III cervical cancer has reached the pelvic wall, and stage IV cervical cancer has extended beyond the true pelvis and invaded the bladder or rectal mucosa.
Different treatment methods are used for cervical cancer according to clinical stages. Stage I cervical cancer can be treated directly with surgery, which can preserve fertility. Stage II cervical cancer can be treated with surgery or radiotherapy. Stage III and IV cervical cancer cannot be completely cured by surgery, but can be treated with chemotherapy or targeted drugs.
