Is interventional treatment for liver cancer effective? Eight advantages of interventional treatment

Liver cancer is a relatively common malignant tumor. The disease progresses very quickly and often leads to failure and death within a few months or a year after diagnosis. Therefore, active treatment is needed as soon as possible. Many liver cancer patients now take interventional therapy. So, is interventional treatment for liver cancer effective?
Currently, interventional therapy is the preferred treatment for patients with liver cancer. It has eight major advantages:
1. Definite efficacy
Through interventional treatment, the tumor of liver cancer patients can shrink rapidly, the pain can be effectively relieved, and the AFP can also drop rapidly, so this treatment method has a definite efficacy.
2. Scientific Mechanism
During interventional treatment, the local drug concentration is relatively high, dozens of times higher than that of systemic chemotherapy, so the effect will be more obvious. However, the toxicity of this treatment method is much lower than that of systemic chemotherapy.
3. Simple operation
The operation of interventional therapy for liver cancer is relatively simple and causes little trauma to patients, so it is safe and reliable.
4. Wide scope of application
Almost all liver cancer patients can be treated with this method. Even some elderly and frail people or those suffering from other diseases can undergo interventional therapy to treat liver cancer. Because this treatment method does not require general anesthesia, patients can stay awake during treatment, and doctors can adjust the plan in time when any discomfort symptoms occur.
5. Low cost
The cost of interventional treatment for liver cancer patients is much lower than that of surgical treatment, which can reduce the financial burden on the family.
6. Repeatable
Interventional therapy can be repeated when treating liver cancer, and the angiography is particularly clear, making comparison easier.
7. Two-step resection is possible
Some liver cancer patients undergo interventional treatment, and after the tumor size is reduced, two-step resection can be performed.
8. It can treat advanced liver cancer . When the patient's condition has progressed to the advanced stage of liver cancer and surgical treatment is not possible, interventional treatment can be chosen, which can also effectively prolong the patient's survival.
Therefore, interventional treatment is effective for liver cancer patients. However, in order to improve the efficacy, comprehensive treatment can be adopted, first performing surgery and then interventional treatment, which can prevent postoperative recurrence and metastasis.
