What is the normal value of carcinoembryonic antigen? There are several ranges

The normal value of carcinoembryonic antigen refers to the value of embryonic antigen associated with the tumor, which is used for auxiliary diagnosis of tumor diseases.

Reference for normal values of carcinoembryonic antigen: The normal value detected by ELISA and RIA methods is <5μg/L (or <5ng/ml); 96% to 97% of non-smokers have carcinoembryonic antigen values <2.5μg/L; 20% to 40% of long-term smokers have carcinoembryonic antigen values >2.5μg/, and a few have >5.0μg/L.

The following points should be noted when testing carcinoembryonic antigen and judging abnormal values:

1. Carcinoembryonic antigen > 5ng/ml < 10ng/ml, generally does not mean anything special. Malnutrition, inflammation, and certain diseases will all lead to abnormal values. If the carcinoembryonic antigen value is > 30ng/ml, or exceeds it by several times or dozens of times without any interference factors, it may be suspected that there is a tumor in the body.

2. You do not need to fast on purpose to check the carcinoembryonic antigen, but in order to ensure the accuracy of the value, you should be healthy and have no inflammatory diseases and not take any drugs that have a significant impact on your body before doing the blood test. In addition, control your eating habits a few days before the test, and it is best to avoid alcoholic beverages and spicy and hairy foods.

3. Carcinoembryonic antigen should be comprehensively judged in conjunction with the detection values of multiple tumor markers such as alpha-fetoprotein, prostate-specific antigen, carbohydrate antigen 199/125, so that it can play an auxiliary role in tumor screening.
