How long does it take to quit smoking and get rid of the addiction

Quitting smoking is a long process. In the first few days of quitting smoking, you may experience smoking cessation syndrome, which is similar to the symptoms of a cold. People who quit smoking may experience runny nose and nasal congestion, which is caused by excessive mucus in the lungs. When there is no smoke, this mucus will be discharged from the body, causing coughing. Quitting smoking is a long-term battle, which usually takes more than a year to completely stop. So, how long does it take to quit smoking?

The first stage: the difficult stage of quitting smoking. Generally, it takes about a week or ten days for smokers to quit smoking, and some smokers may last up to a month.

Stage 2: Relaxation

Generally, after the first stage, in the second or third month, you will feel relieved after quitting smoking, but the urge to smoke will still come from time to time. As long as you hold on, it will pass in a few minutes.

The third stage: the recurring stage in which one always has the urge to smoke a cigarette. This stage is also called the "capsize stage". The urge to smoke in this stage is sometimes very strong because one has forgotten all the ugliness and pain of smoking and always has the illusion of wanting to smoke a cigarette. The recurring stage usually lasts from four to six months.

The fourth stage: the stable stage. Generally, after 200 days of persistence, you will enter a smooth period. You will rarely feel the urge to smoke and basically forget that you are quitting smoking. However, you will still easily fall into trouble when encountering extraordinary events in extraordinary situations, such as after drinking. This stage is the easiest and happiest stage in quitting smoking. If you stick to not smoking one cigarette, you can easily quit smoking in one or two years.

The fifth stage: the regression stage. After two years of quitting smoking, there is no difference between a smoker and a non-smoker. The smoker has become a non-smoker, and watching others smoking has no effect on him or her. But the premise of all this is that you must not smoke one cigarette (because the smoking addiction has a "awakening consciousness", one cigarette can awaken all the smoking addictions, and you can't resist it at all)
