Is there any relationship between fibroids and heredity? Genetic diseases refer to diseases caused by changes in genetic material or controlled by pathogenic genes, indicating that traits can be passed from parents to offspring. So today I will introduce to you whether there is any relationship between fibroids and heredity?

NF1 (fibromatosis) is a genetic disease. In layman's terms, the NF1 gene abnormality causes the disease, and this gene is likely to be passed on to the next generation.

To make it easier for patients to understand, we can say this: everyone has two NF1 genes. For normal people, both NF1 genes are normal. For patients, one of the NF1 genes has a pathogenic mutation (there are individual differences between people, and some mutations are not pathogenic and are normal changes).

When reproducing offspring, each parent will provide a NF1 gene to the next generation, and the next generation will receive one NF1 gene from the father and one from the mother, combining them into two NF1 genes of their own.

If both parents are normal, then their two NF1 genes are normal, so the next generation, with two normal NF1 genes inherited from the father and mother (however, there is a possibility that the next generation will have NF1 gene mutations themselves. This possibility is 1/6000-7000).

If one parent is normal (having two normal NF1 genes) and the other is abnormal (having one normal NF1 gene and one abnormal NF1 gene), then the NF1 gene provided by the normal parent is healthy, while the NF1 gene provided by the abnormal parent may be healthy (with a probability of 50 percent) or pathogenic (50 percent). Then the two NF1 genes of the next generation, one comes from a healthy provider (NF1 gene is healthy) and the other comes from a diseased provider (NF1 gene has a 50 percent probability of being unhealthy). If the next generation gets two healthy NF1 genes from the parents (the probability is 50 percent), then the probability of developing NF1 disease is the same as the probability of gene mutation in the normal population, which is 1/6000-7000. If the next generation gets one healthy NF1 gene and one pathogenic gene from the parents (the probability is 50 percent), then NF1 will occur.
