Is sepsis serious?

Although most people are unfamiliar with sepsis, everyone should feel very familiar with it. There are many causes of sepsis, among which pathogenic bacteria caused by suppuration is also an important cause of sepsis. When a patient develops sepsis, the body's immune system will be greatly reduced. In clinical medicine, how serious are the consequences of sepsis on the human body?

Sepsis is caused by the formation of bacterial emboli after local suppuration. After the bacteria invade the blood, multiple tissues and organs in the body may become diseased. If sepsis affects the body for a long time, it may pose a certain threat to life.

Sepsis refers to the situation where the body's local defense is relatively low, and pathogenic bacteria invade the blood, causing large amounts of toxins to be produced in the blood, which then causes systemic poisoning symptoms. As the toxins in the blood evaporate, multiple tissues and organs may become diseased, leading to tissue necrosis or organ failure, and then complications of other diseases leading to death.

Although both sepsis and septicemia are life-threatening, their causes are different, and their symptoms are also different after they form a scale. Therefore, sepsis is not septicemia. There are certain differences between the two and they cannot be regarded as the same disease. However, both of these diseases can cause serious harm to the body, so they need to be treated effectively in a timely manner to prevent damage to tissues and organs.

To sum up, sepsis is not septicemia. Although both diseases will cause certain pathological conditions in the blood and cause serious damage to the body's tissues and organs, the two diseases are different in their essential causes and later symptoms, so they are not the same disease and cannot be confused.
