What are the symptoms of advanced tongue cancer

Nowadays, various diseases appear in our lives, ranging from colds to cancers, which harm our health. There is a kind of oral cancer called tongue cancer, which is the cancer on the tongue. It is estimated that everyone is not familiar with it. Let's take a look at the symptoms of late-stage tongue cancer:

What are the symptoms of late stage tongue cancer? Most tongue cancers are squamous cell carcinomas. The cause of this disease may be related to long-term addiction to tobacco and alcohol, poor oral hygiene, malnutrition, and long-term foreign body stimulation. Some severe white spots can become cancerous. The incidence of tongue cancer in India is relatively high, which may be related to the local people's habit of chewing tobacco.

In the late stage, tongue cancer can invade the floor of the mouth, mandible, palatoglossal arch, and tonsils. The closer the lesion is to the root of the tongue, the higher the degree of malignancy. Since the tongue is active and has abundant lymphatic vessels and blood circulation, it is easy to metastasize to the lymph nodes at an early stage. Tongue cancer can metastasize to distant sites, most commonly the lungs.

Late-stage symptoms of tongue cancer 1. It is more common on the edge of the tongue, followed by the tip, back and root of the tongue. 2. It is locally ulcerative or infiltrative, grows fast, and has spontaneous pain, tenderness and radiating pain, tongue numbness, movement and swallowing disorders in the late stage. 3. Chronic irritation factors can be found near the tumor, such as: poor restorations, residual roots, residual crowns, sharp crown edges, etc. 4. Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck can be touched in the early stage. If diagnosed with tongue cancer, it is recommended to receive treatment as soon as possible. Among the cases of tongue cancer, there are more cases in the middle and late stages, and about half of them are after treatment. 5. Recurrence and metastasis symptoms appear within a year, so after Western medicine treatment, combined with ginsenoside RH2, it can effectively enhance the efficacy and reduce toxicity, shorten the recovery period, and prevent recurrence and metastasis. At present, there are existing literatures to support that ginsenoside Rh2 can inhibit the proliferation of tongue cancer cells and induce their differentiation. For patients in the late stage, tongue can improve the quality of life and relieve the pain of patients.

The direct spread of tongue cancer is invasive growth, with unclear boundaries with surrounding tissues. Its horizontal infiltration is manifested as cross-regional invasion. For example, cancer of the lateral edge or belly of the tongue erodes the floor of the mouth and the lingual tissue of the mandibular body, and cancer of the root of the tongue can invade the palatoglossal arch, the posterior pharyngeal wall, and the anterior wall of the tongue periphrasia. Its vertical infiltration breaks through the mucosal layer and infiltrates into the muscle layer. In the late stage of tongue cancer, it can invade the contralateral tongue muscle and even involve the entire tongue.

The tongue is a bone and flesh organ with rich blood supply and lymphatic tissue. It is highly mobile and active (chewing, speaking, etc.), so it is more likely to metastasize to lymph nodes. The metastatic site is mainly the deep cervical lymph node group. The metastasis rate and number gradually increase with T classification. T4 and late-stage, recurrent cases can metastasize to the posterior cervical triangle lymph node group (i.e., the lymph nodes of the transverse chain and the secondary chain). Tongue cancer that invades the midline, crosses the midline, and originates on the back of the tongue can metastasize to bilateral lymph nodes. In the late stage, tongue cancer can metastasize to the lungs or distant metastases to other parts.
