Life is much better now, but there are more diseases now, especially cancer patients. Many people are troubled by tongue cancer, but many people don’t know what examinations they need to do. Let us learn about what examinations tongue cancer patients should do after going to the hospital. Tongue cancer examination items: blood routine test, biopsy 1. Imaging examinations such as X-rays, tomography and CT are of diagnostic value in determining the extent of tongue cancer invasion. 2. Pathological cytology examination Exfoliative cytology examination confirms that it is cancer cell, which is helpful for the diagnosis of this disease. More than 95% of tongue cancers are squamous cell carcinomas, while adenocarcinomas from salivary glands are rare; and the proportion of adenocarcinomas in tongue root cancer can be as high as more than 30%. If the submandibular and cervical lymph nodes are swollen, a biopsy can be performed to confirm whether there is metastasis. 3. Cervical lymph node biopsy Tongue cancer often metastasizes to the cervical lymph nodes, especially under the digastric muscle and submandibular. The neck should be carefully examined and a cervical lymph node biopsy should be performed when necessary, which is of certain significance in the diagnosis and staging of the disease. 4. Special inspection (1) Pathological biopsy Qualitative diagnostic criteria for tongue cancer. Under block anesthesia, 0.5-1 cm of tissue is cut from the junction of normal tissue and tumor for examination. The sutures do not need to be too tight and should be removed as soon as possible. Surgery should be performed as soon as possible after pathological diagnosis. (2) Ultrasound Doppler For patients who are planning to undergo vascular anastomosis with a free tissue flap to repair postoperative defects, an ultrasonic Doppler examination can be performed to determine the direction of the arterial and venous branches and blood flow conditions in the donor and recipient areas to ensure the success of the operation. How to prevent tongue cancer: 1. Pay attention to oral hygiene: brush your teeth every morning and evening, and rinse your mouth after meals; have an oral examination 1-2 times a year. If you find any tooth or periodontal disease, treat it in time. If there is a lesion, it should be removed as soon as possible. 2. If benign lesions or precancerous lesions are found, such as papilloma of the tongue or erosive lichen planus, they should be removed and biopsied in time, or actively treated and observed regularly. 3. Grind the sharp non-functional cusps and marginal ridges to make the cusps and marginal ridges on the occlusal surface of the crown rounded and blunt to prevent damage to the lingual marginal tissue. |
