What are the dangers of glioma

Glioma is a common tumor and has become one of the malignant tumors that has caused countless patients to die. Moreover, it will recur repeatedly after surgery, which makes patients very headache and worried. So, what are the dangers of glioma if it is not treated in time? Let's take a look at it together.

The hazards of brain glioma are as follows:

1. Headache. Most of the time, it is caused by increased intracranial pressure. As the tumor grows, the intracranial pressure gradually increases, compressing and pulling on pain-sensitive structures in the brain such as blood vessels, dura mater and certain cranial nerves, causing headaches.

2. Vomiting is caused by stimulation of the medullary vomiting center or the vagus nerve. There may be no nausea at first, and it is projectile. In children, the headache may not be obvious due to cranial suture separation, and because posterior cranial fossa tumors are common, vomiting is more prominent.

3. Symptoms of brain glioma may also include increased intracranial pressure, papilledema, and secondary atrophy of the optic nerve and decreased vision. Primary optic atrophy occurs when the tumor compresses the optic nerve, which also causes decreased vision.

In addition to the above hazards, brain gliomas can also cause patients to suffer from epilepsy, mental disorders, memory loss, apathy, intellectual impairment, etc. Therefore, timely examination and early treatment are necessary.
