Can testicular cancer cause infertility?

Under normal circumstances, the effectiveness of testicular cancer treatment is beyond doubt. However, testicular cancer is still very scary for male friends. This is not only the fear of cancer itself, but also the fear that testicular cancer will make male friends unable to pass on their lives. So can testicular cancer lead to infertility? Let us learn about it together.

Testicular cancer is a malignant tumor that develops when cells in the testicles become cancerous. The testicles are the two sex glands in men. They are responsible for producing and storing sperm and are also the main source of testosterone in men. The testicles are located in the scrotum, a structure under the penis. Testicular cancer accounts for only 1% of all cancers in men. Testicular cancer occurs in men aged 15-39 years and is the most common cancer in men aged 20-34 years.

Testicular cancer has no obvious symptoms in the early stage. It can only be discovered when the tumor grows to the point of bleeding and necrosis. If it has spread, it can also cause symptoms such as back pain, bone and joint pain, and urinary system obstruction, which are often easily ignored. Common factors affecting testicular cancer and male infertility: the incidence of infertility in unilateral cryptorchidism is 30% to 60%, and bilateral cryptorchidism is 50% to 100%; reproductive tract infection accounts for more than 1/3 of infertile patients; endocrine disorders and genetics are the main causes of infertility; the effect of estrogen in environmental hormones has an increasing impact on male infertility, and estrogen plays an important role in the occurrence of testicular cancer.

Men with cryptorchidism are several times more likely to develop testicular cancer than the average male. Testicles that have not descended to the scrotum are kept in a high temperature state for a long time, which is very detrimental to the normal development of the testicles. The malignant transformation rate of cryptorchidism is as high as more than 50%. In addition, viral infection is also a major factor in the occurrence of testicular cancer. The cure rate of early testicular cancer is relatively high. Many patients can still get married and have children after treatment at the best time. However, if it is not discovered in time, it will endanger life. Therefore, prevention is particularly important.

To detect cryptorchidism and prevent testicular cancer in time, men should do self-examination every month, preferably after bathing, when the skin is soft and easy to detect. Normally, the two testicles of a man are almost the same size, smooth and firm, but if the size or weight of the testicles is significantly different, there is swelling, lumps, and a noticeable sense of falling, you need to be alert and seek medical attention in time.

The above is an introduction about being careful about infertility caused by testicular cancer. For male friends suffering from cryptorchidism, the harm of the disease should not be ignored. Medical treatment should be sought in time to avoid complications such as testicular cancer and infertility, which will harm the patient's physical and mental health and family happiness.
