What are the accompanying symptoms of patients with bile duct cancer

Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare disease in clinical practice. Therefore, some patients, due to lack of understanding of the disease, do not discover it in time and seek medical treatment in time even though they have some symptoms of the disease, which greatly reduces the treatment effect. So, what are the accompanying symptoms of cholangiocarcinoma patients? Let's take a look with the editor below.

1. Abdominal pain: Half of the patients may experience right upper abdominal pain, distension or discomfort, weight loss, loss of appetite and other symptoms, which are often regarded as early warning symptoms of bile duct cancer. The symptoms of abdominal pain are similar to those of cholelithiasis and cholecystitis. Clinically, abdominal pain can occur 3 months after the onset of bile duct cancer.

2. Jaundice: Jaundice may be the earliest typical symptom of the patient, which may appear at a similar time as abdominal pain. It may appear as early as 3 months after the onset of bile duct cancer. About 90%-98% of patients will have varying degrees of yellowing of the skin and sclera. The characteristic of jaundice is that it progressively worsens and deepens, and is mostly painless and non-fluctuating. Jaundice appears earlier in upper bile duct cancer, while in middle and lower bile duct cancer, jaundice symptoms may appear later due to the buffering of the gallbladder.

3. Skin itching: It may occur before or after the onset of jaundice, and may be accompanied by other symptoms such as tachycardia, bleeding tendency, mental depression, fatigue and abdominal distension. Skin itching is caused by the increase of bilirubin content in the blood, which stimulates the peripheral nerves of the skin.

4. Other related symptoms: In addition to jaundice, abdominal pain and other symptoms, patients may also have nausea, vomiting, weight loss, dark yellow urine, soy sauce or strong tea-like urine, light yellow or clay-colored stools and other symptoms.

The symptoms of gallbladder cancer are generally quite obvious, but many people miss the best time to treat the disease because of their own neglect. Therefore, in daily life, we should also pay attention to the changes in our body and do regular physical examinations to avoid the occurrence of various diseases.
