There are several bases for diagnosing ovarian tumors

Ovarian malignant tumors are also called ovarian cancer. They are a major threat to women's health. In recent years, the number of ovarian cancer patients has been increasing. Since the symptoms of ovarian cancer are not very obvious when they occur, many patients are misdiagnosed. In order to reduce the misdiagnosis rate of ovarian malignant tumors, let's introduce how ovarian malignant tumors are diagnosed.

The earlier ovarian cancer is detected and treated, the greater the chance of cure. But it is difficult to detect ovarian cancer in its early stages. Usually, women with ovarian cancer have no symptoms or only mild discomfort, and only in the later stages do they develop obvious symptoms. Scientists are studying ways to detect ovarian cancer before symptoms appear. They have found that CA-125, a tumor marker, in the blood is significantly elevated in women with ovarian cancer: Ultrasound examinations can also help detect the disease early.

A large-scale cancer screening is underway, including prostate, lung, colorectal and ovarian cancers, to evaluate the value of blood tumor marker CA-125 levels and transvaginal ultrasound for early diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer:

Early ovarian cancer usually has no obvious symptoms, and only in the late stage will it show obvious symptoms. Symptoms of ovarian cancer include: abdominal (gastrointestinal) discomfort (belching, indigestion, bloating) or pain; nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, frequent urination; poor appetite; even if you eat very little food, you feel obvious abdominal distension; unexplained weight gain or loss; abnormal vaginal bleeding.

These symptoms can be caused by ovarian cancer or other less serious conditions, but it is important to see a doctor as soon as possible if you notice these symptoms.

To look for the cause of these symptoms, doctors review the woman's medical history and do a physical examination and special tests, including the following:

Pelvic examination: This includes checking the uterus, vagina, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, and rectal fossa for abnormalities (shape, size, and whether there are lumps). During the pelvic examination, the doctor usually does a cervical smear, which can diagnose cervical cancer early, but it is not a reliable method for early diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Ultrasound: This is the use of high-frequency sound waves for examination. This type of sound wave cannot be heard by humans, but it can examine the ovaries. The images formed by the reflection of the sound waves can clearly show the differences between healthy tissue, fluid cysts and tumor tissue.

CA-125 analysis: The tumor marker CA-125 in the blood of ovarian cancer patients is often higher than that of normal women.

Barium enema: This is an X-ray examination of the colon and rectum. When taking the film, some white barium powder is poured into the patient's rectum. The X-ray film can show tumors or other abnormal areas.

CT scan: By connecting a computer to an X-ray machine, it can clearly show the conditions at all levels of the body.

Through the above introduction, I believe that now everyone has a better understanding of how ovarian malignant tumors are diagnosed. You can refer to the above knowledge to detect ovarian malignant tumors earlier in life so that you can receive treatment earlier, so as to minimize the damage caused by ovarian malignant tumors.
