Can patients with ovarian tumors exercise by brisk walking?

Many people believe that ovarian tumor patients are weak and should not participate in physical exercise, which will accelerate the body's blood circulation, and the cancer cells in the body will take the opportunity to spread faster with the blood flow, making the condition worse. In fact, this view is just a misunderstanding of many people and has no scientific basis. So on the contrary, ovarian tumor patients should do appropriate physical exercise after surgery, which will help their physical recovery after surgery.

Of course, after the diagnosis of ovarian tumor, treatment measures should be taken as soon as possible. After the tumor is removed or the disease is controlled by radiation or chemotherapy, you should appropriately participate in some physical exercise within your ability. The principle is to do it according to your ability and step by step to improve the body's immune function and increase the number of white blood cells in the blood. White blood cells have the ability to devour cancer cells and bacteria. At the same time, physical exercise can also improve the body's metabolism and enhance the body's resistance. Appropriate physical exercise has the following four advantages:

(1) It can promote the body's metabolism, delay cell aging, and reduce the chance of cell cancer.

(2) It can increase appetite and improve digestive function.

(3) Can enhance the body’s immune function.

(4) It can make people cheerful, eliminate worries and depression, and improve mental health.

Therefore, appropriate whole-body activities are necessary for patients with ovarian tumors after surgery, but this must be based on the physical condition allowing it and varies from person to person.

(1) If there are no contraindications after surgery, the patient should get out of bed and move around after 1 to 7 days, i.e., early ambulation. The patient can be supported by family members to walk around the ward to promote the recovery of body functions.

(2) If the surgical trauma is severe and the patient has poor physical strength and cannot get out of bed, the patient can do limb exercises and turn over in bed.

(3) If your body recovers well, you can gradually increase the amount of exercise and change the content of your exercise, from walking, qigong, tai chi to aerobics and even jogging.

Therefore, it is recommended that ovarian cancer patients do some physical exercise according to their ability after a period of recovery after surgery. This will be beneficial to their future recovery.
