When a woman has a teratoma, it is like carrying a time bomb that could explode at any time. Although mature ovarian teratoma is a benign tumor, it can cause complications such as torsion and infection. So, what are the dangers of a mild teratoma? The dangers of teratoma: It may rupture and cause infection, and long-term presence is very likely to lead to malignant transformation; If the growth rate is too fast and the original elasticity is lost, exophytic tumors may show superficial vein distension, congestion, local skin infiltration and increased skin temperature; Systemic symptoms such as weight loss, anemia, and tumor fever; Causes compression to other organs, etc. Complications of teratoma: 1. Tumors are often pedunculated and dense, have a certain weight, and the density of the same tumor is uneven, so it is easy to twist. The cause is often factors such as pregnancy bowel movements, bladder filling or emptying, coughing, vomiting, or accidental violence that cause sudden changes in abdominal pressure. The incidence of twisting is 9% to 17%. After twisting occurs, there are often typical symptoms such as acute abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. 2. Teratoma rupture is rare. Data show that the incidence of tumor rupture during pregnancy is as high as 15.8%, while it is only 1.3% during non-pregnancy. Rupture is mostly caused by tumor trauma, torsion, infection or gangrene. The leakage of sebum (containing neutral fat, fatty acids and other components) and squamous cell debris in the cyst can stimulate the thickening of the peritoneum to form chronic granulomas or accompanied by scattered calcium salt deposition. 3. Caused by blood or lymphatic sources, it can be caused by pelvic inflammation, intestinal adhesions, postpartum and appendiceal abscesses, or induced by tumor puncture, torsion rupture, etc. The pathogenic bacteria of infection are mostly streptococci, staphylococci, Escherichia coli, tuberculosis or aerogenes. 4. Mature teratoma may be accompanied by hemolytic anemia, but it is very rare. Most patients have splenomegaly and a positive Comb test. For these patients, taking adrenal cortex hormones or splenectomy are ineffective, or have only short-term effects. However, they can recover after removing the ovarian tumor. 5. Combined with other germ cell tumors. The above are the complications caused by teratoma that I introduced to you. I hope it can be helpful to you and I wish you good health. |
