How to defrost chicken breast

Normally, many people buy a lot of chicken for convenience so that they don't have to buy new chicken every time they want to eat it. However, chicken is usually stored in the freezer of the refrigerator, but it needs to be thawed before eating. Everyone knows that thawing is a rather troublesome thing. In fact, thawing is very convenient. Just put the chicken in cold water several times to thaw it.

1. How to thaw frozen chicken legs

The quick thawing method of frozen meat is to thaw the frozen meat in salt water, which can greatly shorten the thawing time and keep the meat fresh and tender.

Do not use boiling water to thaw frozen meat. When eating meat and fish placed in the freezer of the refrigerator, many people take them out and place them at room temperature to thaw; some people are impatient and soak them in hot water and cook them immediately. This is the wrong approach. When meat is thawed quickly, a substance called propionaldehyde is often produced, which is a carcinogen.

The correct way is to put the frozen meat indoors for a few hours before using it; you can also put the frozen meat in the refrigerator for a few hours before taking it out and using it. Frozen meat must be thawed in cold water. Frozen fish, livestock meat, poultry and other meats placed in the freezer of the refrigerator, when used, some people often use hot water to thaw and cook immediately. In fact, this practice is unscientific.

2. How to thaw chicken

Chicken is not only a delicious side dish, but also provides high-quality protein. Defrosting chicken shouldn't be a problem as long as you do it the right way. Here are some tips for thawing chicken.

Take the frozen chicken out of the freezer and place it in the refrigerator. Thawing in a refrigerator takes longer than other methods, but the quality of the thawed food is higher.

1. Method 2

To avoid blood produced during thawing from contaminating other foods in the refrigerator, please place the chicken on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. If the chicken has been unpacked, place it on a plate or bowl.

Timing. Generally speaking, if you thaw chicken in the refrigerator, it will take 5 hours for every 15 ounces of chicken.

Note: Thawing a whole chicken often takes more than a day. Please plan accordingly.

Once thawed, remove the chicken from the refrigerator. The chicken feels soft at this time and the frost covering the chicken has melted.

If you are thawing a whole chicken, you can tell if it is completely thawed by checking with your hands to see if there are any ice crystals in the chicken's abdominal cavity. If there are ice crystals, the chicken needs to be thawed further.

Store thawed chicken in the refrigerator. Thawed chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for another 1 to 2 days. If you don't plan to cook the chicken within a day or two, you'll need to refrozen it or it may spoil.

Store thawed chicken in the coldest part of the freezer. This will allow the chicken to be stored longer without being attacked by bacteria.

2. Method 2

If the chicken is not already packaged, seal it in a freezer bag first. The freezer bag will prevent bacteria from growing in the chicken during the thawing process.

Find a bowl large enough to hold all the chicken. Make sure the bowl is large enough to cover all of the chicken.

Place the packaged chicken in a bowl and fill it with cold water. The water must completely cover all the chicken.

Please do not use hot water. Hot water promotes bacterial growth.

Change the water every half hour. Using this method to thaw chicken, it takes about half an hour for every 15 ounces of chicken.

If you are thawing a whole chicken, it will take even longer, so be prepared. If a chicken weighs 1359 grams, it will take at least 3 hours to defrost.

Cook all chicken before returning it to the refrigerator for storage. Raw chicken thawed in cold water should not be stored again before being cooked.
