How to prevent recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignant tumor disease. Once you have nasopharyngeal carcinoma, you must treat it in time. However, treatment does not mean that everything is fine. You need to pay special attention because nasopharyngeal carcinoma will recur. So, in order to prevent recurrence and metastasis after radiotherapy, how should patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma prevent recurrence after radiotherapy?

First of all, you should take medicine as prescribed by the doctor and receive regular checkups. If you experience headaches, blood in the nose, tinnitus, a lump in the neck, body bone pain, chest pain, etc., you should see a doctor in time.

Rinse your mouth more often, drink more water, and keep your mouth clean to prevent oral infection and inflammation. Practice mouth opening exercises to prevent difficulty in opening your mouth in the future. The method is to open your mouth as far as possible, about 200 times a day, for two years. At the same time, you can also take a walk and slowly rotate your neck back and forth.

Pay attention to rest, combine work and rest, and if conditions permit, take a full three-month break. Participate in appropriate sports activities, such as walking, Tai Chi, jogging, etc. Prevent colds and keep warm. Keep a good mood, listen to light music, read books, read newspapers, etc.

Eat a light diet, low in fat, low in cholesterol, high in carbohydrates, and high in vitamins. Eat small but frequent meals, 5-7 meals a day, 1-2 taels per meal. Eat soft and easy-to-digest foods, mainly fresh milk, eggs, fish, meat, and soy milk. Avoid irritating foods, such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, strong tea, curry, vinegar, spicy, rough, and fried foods.

To alleviate the complication of dry mouth after radiotherapy, patients should drink more water, carry a water cup with them, and keep their mouth moist.
