The 5-year survival rate of ovarian cancer patients is closely related to the time of ovarian cancer detection. The earlier the cancer is detected, the higher the cure rate and 5-year survival rate. However, the actual situation is not ideal. In fact, more than 75% of ovarian cancer patients are already in the terminal stage when they are detected. Because the cancer is detected too late, the cure rate is only about 10% to 20%.
According to statistics, the incidence of ovarian cancer reaches its peak at the age of 60. Therefore, it is recommended that women should undergo regular screening for ovarian cancer from the age of 40 or 50. Currently, the cancer prevention screening items for ovarian cancer include: gynecological examination, B-ultrasound, CT or MRI examination, blood CA125 index examination, etc. Scientists are also stepping up research to find more effective and efficient ovarian cancer markers.
