Drugs for treating small cell lung cancer

What are the drugs for treating small cell lung cancer? If a friend of yours has lung cancer, you will be worried and anxious, and eager to find a treatment. Here is an introduction to the drugs for treating small cell lung cancer.

Lung cancer accounts for about 20% of lung cancers and is more common in men than in women. The disease mostly occurs in the large bronchi (central type). It is the most malignant type of lung cancer. The tumor cells have a short doubling time and progress rapidly. Cancer cells can double in about a month and are often accompanied by endocrine abnormalities or carcinoid syndrome.

Chemotherapy is the main treatment for small cell lung cancer. Patients in the extensive stage can prolong their life through chemotherapy and necessary radiotherapy, but almost all cases will relapse, with an average survival of 8 to 10 months and a 3-year survival rate of less than 10%.

Commonly used chemotherapy drugs for the treatment of lung cancer include cyclophosphamide, fluorouracil, mitomycin, doxorubicin, epirubicin, procarbazine, vinblastine, methotrexate, lomustine, cisplatin, carboplatin, paclitaxel, gemcitabine, etc. In clinical application, the drugs are rationally selected according to the pathological tissue classification of lung cancer and the patient's general condition, and the administration method is selected according to whether it is simple chemotherapy or adjuvant chemotherapy, the length of the treatment course is determined, and which drugs are used in combination, intermittent administration, etc., to improve the effect of chemotherapy.

In addition, it should be noted that after radiotherapy, patients should pay attention to supplementing high-nutrition liquid or semi-liquid diets, such as lotus seed soup, milk, soy milk, crucian carp soup, etc. Avoid overheated, overly acidic and irritating foods when eating. In acute inflammation, you can hold ice in your mouth to reduce inflammatory exudation. If ulcers occur, you can add 0.1 g of crushed vitamin C to 20 ml of honey and hold it in your mouth 2-4 times a day.
