How long can an elderly person live with uterine cancer

How long can an elderly person live with uterine cancer

The cervix is connected to the uterus at the top and the vagina at the bottom. The specific location is a little further inside the vagina. Use your middle finger to push as far as you can. It is almost there. Cervical lesions are the bottleneck of sexuality and reproduction in young and middle-aged women. Cervical cancer is a serious threat to their health and life. Cervical cancer is more common in middle-aged women between 30 and 40 years old, but in recent years, it has tended to be younger. Once diagnosed with cervical cancer, how long is the expected survival time?

Factors that affect the survival of cervical cancer include: age of onset, histological type, stage, presence or absence of lymph node metastasis, depth and extent of tumor infiltration, and initial treatment method. Generally speaking, the prognosis of early cervical cancer is very good, with an overall 5-year survival rate of up to 90%. After 5 years, if the lifestyle is appropriate, most cases will not relapse, while the 5-year survival rate of advanced patients is less than 10%. Specifically by stage: the 5-year survival rate of stage I is about 85%, stage II is 60%, stage III is 30%, and stage IV is less than 10%.

If you have cervical cancer, the earlier the staging, the better the prognosis. If the initial treatment is appropriate, the recurrence rate will be lower. Recurrence is a common phenomenon in cervical cancer and is also the root cause of death. The two-year survival rate of patients with cervical cancer who have recurred after treatment is about 15%, which means that the hope of being cured after recurrence is very slim. Therefore, cervical cancer focuses on early detection, early correct staging, and correct initial treatment. Once recurrence occurs, the prognosis is very poor.
