Can herpes simplex cause uterine cancer?

Uterine cancer is actually endometrial cancer, which occurs in the inner layer of the uterus. It is a common cancer in the female reproductive system and ranks fourth among the most common cancers in women. It is more common in women aged 50 to 60, often after menopause. In recent years, the incidence rate has been increasing worldwide.

It can metastasize to many parts of the body: spreading from the uterus downward to the cervical canal, from the fallopian tubes upward to the ovaries, or infiltrating into the tissues surrounding the uterus; or metastasize to sites away from the uterus via the lymphatic system and blood circulation.
The exact cause of endometrial cancer remains unclear, but it may be related to the following factors:

1. Long-term and continuous stimulation of the endometrium by estrogen is related to anovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding, polycystic ovary syndrome, functional ovarian tumors, and long-term use of estrogen after menopause without progesterone antagonism.
2. Related to endometrial hyperplasia The International Society of Gynecological Pathology divides endometrial hyperplasia into simple, complex and atypical hyperplasia. About 1% of simple hyperplasia develops into endometrial cancer, about 3% of complex hyperplasia, and about 30% of atypical hyperplasia develops into endometrial cancer.
3. Physical factors Endometrial cancer is more likely to occur in obese, hypertensive, diabetic, unmarried, and infertile women. These factors are high-risk factors for endometrial cancer.
4. Delayed menopause The risk of endometrial cancer in women with delayed menopause increases fourfold. The age of menopause in endometrial cancer patients is six years later than that of ordinary women on average.
5. Genetic factors: About 20% of endometrial cancer patients have a family history. The number of close relatives of endometrial cancer patients with a family history of cancer is twice as high as that of cervical cancer patients.
