Recently, Chinese medical experts have clarified for the first time in the world the significance of detecting a new pathogenic gene, UHRF1, in the blood of breast cancer patients, which means that breast cancer can be diagnosed by testing this pathogenic gene in the blood.

What are the abnormalities in the blood test for breast cancer? It is understood that in traditional breast cancer prevention tests, only CA153 is tested in the blood, and the diagnosis rate is less than 60%, while imaging tests are time-consuming and labor-intensive, and the cost of testing is also high. The National Key Basic Research and Development Program (973 Program) of the Ministry of Science and Technology has studied the blood of 229 breast cancer patients since the end of 2011. It was found that among all the confirmed patients, 79.2% of the patients had the UHRF1 gene in their blood, which means that the diagnosis rate of breast cancer is as high as 80% by simply testing the pathogenic gene in the blood, which is 20% higher than the diagnosis rate of traditional blood tests.

This study clarified for the first time the significance of detecting the new oncogene UHRF1 in the blood of breast cancer patients. Blood testing of this gene can detect breast cancer earlier and also provide a new target for the development of breast cancer drugs.
