The difference between rheumatism and bone cancer

The difference between rheumatism and bone cancer

A 15-year-old girl had a bone tumor (commonly known as "bone cancer") on her left thigh. The tumor was as big as a barrel, but her parents treated her with Chinese medicine as if she had rheumatism, which delayed her treatment for more than three months. She was only recently diagnosed as a "mid- to late-stage bone tumor" in the hospital. Experts said that the general public has little knowledge of adolescent bone tumors, and they are often treated as rheumatism, fractures, sprains, etc., and are often in the mid- to late-stage stages when they are discovered. So, what is the difference between rheumatism and bone cancer?

Rheumatism is a group of diseases that mainly invade joints, bones, muscles, blood vessels and related soft tissues or connective tissues, most of which are autoimmune diseases. The onset is often hidden and slow, the course of the disease is long, and most of them have a genetic tendency. Both diagnosis and treatment are difficult; different autoantibodies can be detected in the blood, which may be related to different HLA subtypes; they have a good short-term or long-term relief response to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants.

Bone tumors are tumors that occur in bones or their appendages. They can be benign or malignant. Malignant bone tumors, commonly known as "bone cancer," develop rapidly, have a poor prognosis, and a high mortality rate. Malignant bone tumors are divided into primary and secondary types. Malignant tumors from other tissues or organs in the body that metastasize to the bones through the blood circulation and lymphatic system are secondary malignant bone tumors. There is also a type of lesion called tumor-like lesions. The tissues of tumor-like lesions do not have the characteristics of tumor cell morphology, but their ecology and behavior are destructive to tumors. They are generally more localized and easier to cure.

Rheumatism and bone cancer must be distinguished. If you feel unwell, you should go to the hospital in time for relevant examinations and confirmation before treatment. Symptomatic treatment is required to restore yourself to a healthy body sooner. Otherwise, the more treatment, the greater the harm. Relevant introductions have been made about rheumatism and bone cancer in the above content. I hope it can help everyone.
