What are the dangers of not treating brain cancer

What are the dangers of not treating brain tumors? Brain tumors usually develop slowly. The first symptoms may be increased intracranial pressure such as headaches and vomiting, or neurological symptoms such as muscle weakness and epilepsy. After weeks, months or years, the symptoms increase and the condition worsens. The onset can also be more rapid, with the patient suddenly deteriorating within hours or days, falling into paralysis and coma.

1. As brain tumors gradually grow larger, they form intracranial space-occupying lesions, often accompanied by surrounding brain edema. When the compensation limit is exceeded, intracranial pressure increases. When brain tumors block cerebrospinal fluid circulation or compress veins, causing venous return obstruction, intracranial pressure increases further. If bleeding, necrosis, and cyst formation occur in brain tumors, the process can be accelerated.

2. As the brain tumor grows, the local intracranial pressure is the highest, and a pressure gradient is generated between the various intracranial cavities, causing brain displacement. Gradually worsening, brain herniation is formed. Supratentorial cerebral hemisphere tumors can cause subfalcine herniation, and the cingulate gyrus can move across the midline, which can cause wedge-shaped necrosis. The pericallosal artery can also be compressed and displaced, and severe cerebral infarction in the supply area can occur.

3. Patients with brain tumors are in a coma, with rising blood pressure, slow pulse, deep and irregular breathing, and decerebrate rigidity. When the intracranial pressure reaches a critical point, the intracranial volume continues to increase slightly, and the intracranial pressure will increase rapidly. When the intracranial pressure is equal to the arterial pressure, the cerebral blood vessels are paralyzed, the cerebral blood flow stops, the blood pressure drops, and the patient will die soon.
