How do patients choose their diet during chemotherapy for gallbladder cancer

Gallbladder cancer patients often experience serious toxic reactions during chemotherapy, such as digestive tract reactions, blood routine tests, liver and kidney function abnormalities, which bring great pain to patients and even affect the normal progress of chemotherapy. In addition to necessary drug prevention, dietary treatment is a very important aspect in clinical practice. The following lists the dietary conditioning and methods for chemotherapy toxic reactions.

(I) Dietary adjustment for decreased blood count

Chemotherapy for gallbladder cancer can cause poor bone marrow regeneration, especially the decrease of white blood cells. In order to effectively prevent the decrease of blood count, patients should supplement high-protein diet during chemotherapy, such as milk, soybeans, lean meat, pig's trotters, sea cucumbers, fish, animal liver, red dates, peanuts, walnuts, black fungus, carrots, red beans, etc. River crabs, black fish, beef, animal-made gelatin such as donkey skin gelatin (ejiao) and pig skin gelatin (roupi gelatin) can also help increase white blood cells. During chemotherapy, you can also increase the amount of animal bone marrow, such as stewing the bone marrow of cattle, pigs, or making food with chicken blood, duck blood, goose blood, and pig blood. At the same time, you can also eat more five black foods, such as black sesame, black rice, black beans, black dates, etc.

(II) Dietary treatment of gastrointestinal toxicity

Chemotherapy for gallbladder cancer can cause oral mucositis, which manifests as mucosal congestion, edema, ulcers, pain, etc. At this time, you should keep your mouth clean, brush your teeth after eating, and supplement high-nutrition liquid or liquid diet, such as lotus seed soup, snow fungus soup, milk, soy milk, crucian carp soup, etc. Avoid overheating, over-acidity and irritating food when eating. Acute inflammation can be accompanied by ice to reduce inflammatory exudation. If ulcers occur, 20 ml of honey can be added to 0.1 g of crushed vitamin C and held in the mouth 2 to 4 times a day. Chemotherapy damages the gastrointestinal mucosa, which may cause nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, poor appetite, etc. At this time, you can eat appetizers, such as hawthorn, lentils, yam, white radish, mushrooms, etc. At the same time, you should eat small meals and avoid feeling full. Eat slowly, do not lie flat for 1 hour after a meal, you can spread it, do not drink water 1 hour before chemotherapy, and take 3 to 5 ml of fresh ginger juice orally if you feel nausea and vomiting when eating.

3. Dietary conditioning and prevention of liver and kidney damage

Some chemotherapy drugs can cause liver damage and increase transaminase. At this time, you should eat more bitter melon, mung bean sprouts, tea, mushrooms, fungus, Hericium erinaceus and other fungi, eat more fruits rich in vitamins, such as kiwi, peaches, apples, grapes, etc., drink more green tea, oolong tea, honey water. If the liver function is severely damaged, you can use 20 grams of Schisandra chinensis and 20 grams of wolfberry to stew crucian carp soup. Some chemotherapy drugs can also cause kidney damage, such as cisplatin. When using such drugs clinically, drink more water and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits (alkaline foods). Once kidney damage occurs, protein intake should be limited. If combined with edema, eat less salt, eat more animal kidneys, mullet, spinach and red amaranth, and eat more foods rich in water and diuretic effects, such as watermelon, cucumber, wax gourd, and loofah.
