Can black tea be stored in the refrigerator?

We all know that tea leaves are roasted and dehydrated, which can extend the storage time of tea leaves and facilitate their transportation. Generally speaking, tea leaves should be stored in a cool and dry place. However, for some more expensive teas, many issues need to be paid attention to during storage. So, can black tea be stored in the refrigerator? In fact, black tea can be stored in the refrigerator.

Storage of black tea

The storage environment conditions directly affect the preservation quality of tea. The best storage environment for tea is dry, sealed, room temperature, and away from light. In addition, the storage conditions should not be humid, otherwise the black tea will easily absorb water and deteriorate. Direct sunlight will destroy the vitamin C in tea and change the color and taste of the tea. If the temperature is too high, it will promote the decomposition of the effective ingredients in the tea and reduce the nutritional value.

How to preserve black tea

1. Low temperature storage method

If we want to better preserve black tea, we can store it at low temperature, that is, put the black tea in a sealed bag, then tie the bag tightly and put it in the refrigerator. The temperature inside can be controlled below 5 degrees Celsius and can be stored for more than a year, but the tea leaves must be prevented from moisture.

2. Storage method of tin cans

We can also use iron cans to store black tea. First of all, we need to check whether the can body and the can lid are airtight and there is no air leakage. When storing, put the dried tea leaves into cans and make sure the cans are filled tightly. This method is convenient to use, but not suitable for long-term storage.

3. Thermos storage method

Choose a thermos with good thermal insulation properties as the container. Put the dry tea leaves into the bottle, filling it full to reduce the amount of air retained in the bottle. Cover the bottle mouth tightly with a cork, apply white wax to the edge of the cork to seal it, and then wrap it with tape. Since there is less air in the bottle and the temperature is stable, this method maintains better results and is simple and easy.

4. Charcoal Sealed Storage Method

Use charcoal's ability to absorb moisture to store tea. First, light the charcoal, then immediately cover it with a brazier or iron pot to extinguish it. After it has dried, wrap the charcoal with a clean cloth and place it in the middle of the clay pot containing tea leaves. The charcoal in the tank should be replaced in time according to the tide situation.
