Differential diagnosis of gallbladder cancer and polyps

Differential diagnosis of gallbladder cancer and polyps

There are no obvious clinical symptoms and characteristics of gallbladder polyps and gallbladder cancer. Most cases of gallbladder polyps or suspected gallbladder cancer-like changes are only discovered during physical examinations or B-ultrasounds, which brings certain difficulties to clinical diagnosis. So, what are the differential diagnoses between gallbladder cancer and polyps?

1. The differential diagnosis between polyps and gallbladder cancer is as follows: Gallbladder polyps and gallbladder cancer have many similarities in the early stages: Both may have digestive tract symptoms, such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, aversion to greasy food, etc. There may also be discomfort, dull pain or abdominal pain in the right upper abdomen.
2. What are the differences between polyps and gallbladder cancer? The difference between the two is that gallbladder cancer in the middle and late stages has jaundice, right upper abdominal mass and cachexia, while gallbladder polyps usually have no jaundice, right upper abdominal mass, and cachexia. Laboratory tests such as liver function tests, tumor markers, and DNA flow cytometric analysis are helpful for the diagnosis of gallbladder pain. Computerized color ultrasound can be used to observe the presence of colored blood flow in polyps or cancers, which can be distinguished from the most common cholesterol polyps in clinical practice. For larger tumors, CT enhancement and tumor enhancement scanning can help diagnose gallbladder cancer.
