Key points of lunge

Key points of lunge

Chinese martial arts or Chinese Kung Fu has always been a traditional culture that we are proud of. Not only our people, but many foreigners have come to China to learn and study martial arts. No matter which martial arts you learn, basic skills are essential, and the most basic of the basic skills is the bow stance. Only when the lunge is done steadily can the subsequent steps be carried out efficiently. So what are the key points of the lunge movement?

Bow stance is one of the five basic steps in martial arts (the five basic steps are bow stance, horse stance, empty stance, prone stance and rest stance). Commonly known as the bow and arrow stance, when used in standing meditation practice, it is called the bow stance.

Lunge

The basic technique is commonly known as "front leg bow, back leg push". Specifically, the front leg is bent at the knee and bent forward, with the thigh close to horizontal (or slanted toward the ground), and the knee not exceeding the toes; the back leg is naturally straightened, the heel is abducted, and the toes are slanted forward about 45 degrees (the knee joint of the back leg is slightly bent in the Chen style lunge). The horizontal distance between the two feet is about 10-30 cm. Bending the legs is real, kicking the legs is virtual. The ratio of body weight shared by the two legs is: the front legs bear 2/3, and the hind legs bear about 1/3 (commonly known as seven in front and three in back). As the boxing theory says: "Reality does not mean being completely still, there is emptiness within reality; emptiness does not mean being completely powerless, there is reality within emptiness". The left foot in front is called a left lunge, and the right foot in front is called a right lunge. In terms of direction, there are forward lunges and diagonal lunges (also called oblique lunges). The former is formed by stepping forward, and the latter is formed by stepping sideways. Common problems include: (1) The front leg cannot be bent and both legs are almost straight. (2) The heel of the back foot cannot be turned, the back leg is too bent, and there are "lifting foot" and "pulling heel" phenomena. (3) The distance between the two feet is too narrow, or even the two feet are stepped on a straight line, or the two feet cross and circle, causing "walking on a tightrope" or "twisting a rope", with the body twisting and shaking.

Lunge

The main difference from the lunge is that the upper limb movement is added while the lower limb movement. The basic principle is to stagger the hands and feet on the same side front and back (the front hand and foot are on the opposite sides). That is, when the right hand is in front, the right foot is behind; when the right hand is behind, the right foot is in front. The horizontal distance between the heels of the two-sided swordsman is about 30 cm to stabilize the center of gravity and prevent the upper body from twisting. For example, in the “Luo Xi Ao Bu”, the left leg is bent, the left hand hugs the knee, and the right hand is pushed forward; the right leg is bent, the right hand hugs the knee, and the left hand is pushed forward. Use the waist as the axis to drive the limbs. Bend your legs, hug your knees and push forward at the same speed and arrive at the same time. The rest is the same as lunge.

Lunge

It also adds upper limb movements while performing lower limb movements in lunge. The main difference between its basic principles and the bow stance is that the front hand and foot are on the same side. That is, the real hands and feet are on the same side (also called hands and feet in unison). Such as left single whip, step back and penetrate palm, etc. The rest is the same as bow stance and twisted bow stance.
