What is the best treatment for chest effusion

Good health is one of people's biggest wishes in life, but people always encounter some unexpected situations. For example, many diseases appear without warning, causing heavy blows to people. Internal medicine diseases are more harmful. Among them, chest effusion is a more serious symptom that can endanger life at any time. Let’s take a look at how to treat chest effusion. I hope everyone can understand.

The diagnosis is not difficult based on the absence of systemic symptoms such as fever and horizontal dullness on percussion. But it must be distinguished from pleurisy. Pleurisy is characterized by fever, chest pain, cough, and pleural friction sound, which mostly occurs on one side. Pleurisy is an exudate containing a large amount of fibrin and protein, and the Levath reaction is positive. Pleural effusion has no systemic symptoms. The fluid in the pleural cavity is a transudate, which is relatively clear and thin, contains a small amount of fibrin and protein, and the Levatha reaction is negative.

1. Thoracentesis:

It is only used as a temporary method to treat pleural effusion. It is suitable for patients with small amount of pleural effusion or critical condition who are not suitable for other treatment methods. It can temporarily relieve the patient's chest tightness, shortness of breath and other compression symptoms. The amount of fluid drawn each time should not exceed 1000 ml. Drawing too much or too quickly may cause mediastinal swing or re-expansion pulmonary edema. Repeated puncture and drawing large amounts of fluid may also lead to a large loss of electrolytes and proteins, accelerating the deterioration of the disease.

2. Immunotherapy:

The use of allogeneic lymphokine-activated killer cells (LAK) combined with recombinant interleukin-2 (RIL-2) for intrathoracic injection in the treatment of advanced lung cancer pleural effusion was completely effective in 55%, partially effective in 36%, and ineffective in 9%.
