Prevention measures for gallbladder cancer

Prevention measures for gallbladder cancer

Primary gallbladder cancer is relatively rare in clinical practice and has not attracted much attention for a long time. According to domestic textbooks, it only accounts for about 1% of all cancers. Due to the widespread development of imaging examinations such as B-ultrasound and CT, gallbladder cancer has gradually been recognized and the detection rate has increased. However, the incidence of gallbladder cancer has obvious regional differences.

Gupta reported that in India, the incidence of gallbladder cancer accounts for 2.9% of all cancers and 3% of digestive tract malignancies, while in the United States, it ranks behind the rectum, colon, pancreas and stomach in digestive tract tumors, accounting for 3% of digestive tract tumors. The incidence of female patients with gallbladder cancer is higher than that of male patients, and 90% of them are over 50 years old.

Gallbladder Cancer Symptoms

1. Jaundice

It manifests as yellowing of the mucous membranes and skin. Severe jaundice is mostly obstructive. Once jaundice occurs, the disease is usually in the late stage.

2. Right upper abdominal mass

A relatively smooth and enlarged gallbladder can be felt in the right upper abdomen. When there is no adhesion to the surrounding tissues, it is highly mobile. When there is adhesion to the surrounding tissues, several lumps can be felt, and sometimes an enlarged liver or a mass of duodenal obstruction can be felt.

Treatment of Gallbladder Cancer

The treatment of gallbladder cancer mainly includes surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine. In the early stage, surgery is often advocated as the main treatment, but most of the gallbladder cancer patients seen clinically are in the late stage, so the current surgical resection rate is very low and the curative effect after resection is also very poor. Although there have been considerable progress in biliary surgery, the diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder cancer have not improved much. Therefore, the key to curing gallbladder cancer is to make an accurate and qualitative diagnosis in a timely manner in the early stage.

The correct treatment, including surgical treatment, can be implemented. The combination of Chinese and Western medicine can improve the efficacy of gallbladder cancer, especially for patients with advanced gallbladder cancer, those with unsatisfactory surgical results and low sensitivity to chemotherapy. If combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment, it can improve the patient's general condition and prolong survival.

1. Surgical treatment of gallbladder cancer

The main treatment for gallbladder cancer patients is surgery. However, most patients find that their tumors can no longer be removed or can only be removed as palliative treatment during surgery.

2. Radiotherapy for Gallbladder Cancer

Gallbladder cancer has atypical early symptoms, and the radical resection rate is low. The recurrence rate after extended radical resection is high and is the main cause of death. Therefore, surgery combined with radiotherapy is advocated. Gallbladder cancer is sensitive to radiotherapy to a certain extent. Surgery plus radiotherapy can prolong life and improve quality of life.
