What are the post-stent care methods for esophageal cancer

When facing a disease like esophageal cancer, surgical treatment is the most common treatment method. However, many patients think they have been cured of the disease after surgery, so they do not have better care, which affects the effect of treatment. So, what are the post-care methods for esophageal cancer stents?

1. Psychological guidance. After the operation, when the patient gradually regains consciousness, he or she may be unable to accept reality temporarily. There may be a postoperative rebellious period, inability to eat and speak normally, coupled with the pain and discomfort of the operation, the patient is easily irritable, pessimistic and desperate, and even refuses further treatment and care. At this time, family members should strengthen non-verbal communication with the patient, such as body language, written communication, gestures, etc. Establish a good communication method with the patient to reduce the anxiety caused by communication barriers and relieve psychological pressure.

2. Posture adjustment. If the patient does not wake up from anesthesia after surgery, the pillow should be removed and the patient should lie flat. After the patient wakes up, the head of the bed should be raised 30-40 degrees to keep the patient's breathing smooth, relieve edema of the head and face, and slightly flex the head and neck to reduce the tension of the neck skin incision. The patient can gradually change to a semi-sitting position within 1 to 2 days after surgery.

3. Respiratory care. Respiratory care is very important for patients with esophageal cancer. It can keep the patient's breathing unobstructed, pay attention to timely suction of the endocrine secretions, and observe the amount, color, odor and viscosity of the endocrine secretions, so as to understand the patient's daily physical condition at any time. The catheter opening should be covered with two layers of wet gauze, which can not only humidify the airway but also prevent dust inhalation and contamination.

Although there are many ways to treat esophageal cancer, surgical treatment can directly reach the lesion site, allowing everyone to directly achieve the goal of controlling the disease. However, if everyone wants to ensure the treatment effect, everyone also needs to adjust their diet, actively cooperate with the doctor, and face the disease optimistically.
