Auxiliary examination methods for gastric cancer

Auxiliary examination methods for gastric cancer

Gastric cancer is usually caused by the outermost cells of the stomach wall. It can occur in various parts of the stomach and invade the stomach wall to different depths and breadths. Several auxiliary examination methods in diagnostic examinations provide a good basis for clarifying the condition of gastric cancer. Let's learn about the auxiliary examination methods of gastric cancer.

1. Physical examination: There may be signs such as left supraclavicular lymphadenopathy, upper abdominal mass, and a mass at the pelvic floor found during rectal examination.

2. Laboratory examination: Blood tests for early-stage gastric cancer are mostly normal. In the middle and late stages, there will be varying degrees of anemia, positive fecal occult blood tests, and other symptoms.

3. Imaging examination: Upper gastrointestinal tract X-ray barium meal contrast technology will help determine the scope of gastric cancer lesions; enhanced CT can clearly show the scope of gastric cancer involving the stomach wall and its relationship with surrounding tissues; magnetic resonance imaging is helpful in determining the status of peritoneal metastasis in determining the scope of cancer lesions; scanning has an accuracy of more than 80% in determining whether it is gastric cancer; gastroscopy or laparoscopic ultrasound examination can measure the scope of cancer lesions and preliminarily evaluate lymph node metastasis. For those who are confirmed to have gastric cancer by endoscopic pathological biopsy, endoscopic ultrasound examination can determine the cancer stage. If gastroscopy finds suspected gastric cancer but the pathological biopsy cannot confirm it, endoscopic ultrasound examination can be used for judgment.

4. Endoscopic examinations are divided into two types: one is gastroscopy, which can detect early gastric cancer, differentiate benign and malignant ulcers, and determine the type and range of gastric cancer. The other is laparoscopy, which can achieve an effect similar to laparotomy and provide a detailed understanding of the cancer and surrounding conditions.

The above are some diagnostic examination methods for gastric cancer. I hope that all patients can distinguish them clearly and not put themselves in an irreparable situation.
