What are the sequelae of rectal cancer

It is said that rectal cancer is a malignant tumor disease that is particularly terrible, but this disease is definitely not invincible. Now there are more and more ways to treat rectal cancer, and there are more treatment options for rectal cancer patients. Surgery has always been a commonly used treatment method for rectal cancer. So what are the sequelae of rectal cancer?

If you are not careful after rectal cancer surgery, some complications may occur, such as: postoperative anastomotic leakage, presacral bleeding and other serious complications.
Anastomotic leakage after rectal cancer surgery Anastomotic leakage is a serious complication of rectal cancer surgery, and the incidence is higher in left-side colon and rectal one-stage surgery. The incidence of anastomotic leakage in traditional manual operation is 5%-10%. The incidence of anastomotic leakage after surgery using stapler technology has decreased to about 2.5%-6.6%. The reasons for the occurrence are as follows:
(1) Inadequate preparation before surgery. Domestic literature reports that the incidence of complications after emergency colon cancer surgery is as high as 74.1%.
(2) Malnutrition of the patient. Most colorectal cancer patients are middle-aged or elderly, and most cases are in the middle or late stages.
(3) Surgical operation errors. Good blood supply is an important factor to ensure the normal healing of the anastomosis. Excessive freeing of the mesentery of the intestinal stump or excessive removal of fat tissue around the colon anastomosis during surgery can damage the colon mesenteric blood vessels, resulting in poor blood supply to the anastomosis, excessive tension on the anastomosis, and insufficient suture, which can affect the healing of the anastomosis.
