Why does my back hurt after drinking?

Although alcoholic beverages contain a large amount of alcohol, which can temporarily paralyze the human nerves, drinking too much is harmful to the human body after all, and excessive drinking can even cause alcohol poisoning. Drinking, like smoking, can be addictive. Some people who are addicted to alcohol have to drink a little alcohol with their meals. But after drinking, I found that my back hurts. What's going on?

Reflux esophagitis (RE) is an inflammatory lesion of the esophagus caused by the reflux of gastric and duodenal contents into the esophagus. Endoscopic manifestations include damage to the esophageal mucosa, namely esophageal erosion and/or esophageal ulcer. Reflux esophagitis can occur in people of any age, and the incidence rate in adults increases with age. The incidence rate is high in Western countries, but low in Asia. This regional difference may be related to genetic and environmental factors. However, the global incidence rate has been on the rise in the past two decades. Middle-aged and elderly people, the obese, smokers, drinkers and those under great mental stress are at high risk of reflux esophagitis.

prevention

1. Avoid drinking and quitting smoking: Tobacco contains nicotine, which can reduce the pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter, causing it to relax and aggravate reflux. The main component of alcohol is ethanol, which not only stimulates gastric acid secretion, but also relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, which is one of the causes of gastroesophageal reflux.

2. Pay attention to eating small meals frequently and eating a low-fat diet to reduce the frequency of reflux symptoms after eating. On the contrary, a high-fat diet can promote the release of cholecystokinin from the small intestinal mucosa, which can easily lead to reflux of gastrointestinal contents.

3. Do not eat too much for dinner and avoid lying down immediately after a meal.

4. Obese people should lose weight. Because excessive obesity increases abdominal pressure, which can promote gastric reflux, especially in the supine position, it is more serious. Therefore, people should actively lose weight to improve reflux symptoms.

5. Keep a good mood and increase appropriate physical exercise.

6. When going to bed, the head of the bed should be raised 10 to 15 cm, which is an effective way to reduce nocturnal reflux.

7. Try to minimize activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure, such as excessive bending over, wearing tight clothes, and tightening the belt.

8. Medication should be taken under the guidance of a doctor to avoid side effects caused by taking medication indiscriminately.
