Early detection and early treatment of laryngeal cancer

Early detection and early treatment of laryngeal cancer

The incidence of laryngeal cancer is the result of multiple factors, but laryngeal keratosis (including laryngeal leukoplakia and laryngeal pachyderma) and laryngeal papilloma are the most common early lesions of laryngeal cancer.

1. To detect laryngeal cancer as early as possible, you should pay attention to the following points

(1) The medical history should be comprehensively analyzed. Patients with laryngeal discomfort, foreign body sensation, or hoarseness should be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible, and indirect laryngoscopy or fiberoptic laryngoscopy should be performed as soon as possible. This is especially true for patients over 40 years old with hoarseness for more than 2 weeks, so that laryngeal lesions can be detected early.

(2) If a neoplasm or mucosal abnormality is found in the larynx during physical examination, a biopsy should be performed as soon as possible and repeated biopsies can be performed if necessary.

(3) Patients with laryngeal keratosis or laryngeal papilloma should be closely observed and have regular follow-up visits after treatment to prevent cancer.

2. Patients with laryngeal cancer may have the following signs during physical examination:

(1) The laryngeal mucosa may be red, swollen, rough, eroded, or raised. Neoplasms may also be seen, which may be nodular, cauliflower-like, eroded, or ulcerated. There may also be abnormal vocal cord movement and fissures when closed.

(2) Neck signs may include sore throat, tenderness, limited movement, and enlarged deep and superficial lymph nodes in front of the larynx, in front of the trachea, and on the sides of the neck.

3. Patients with laryngeal cancer should be differentiated from the following diseases: chronic laryngitis, vocal cord polyps and nodules, laryngeal tuberculosis, laryngeal syphilis, laryngeal papilloma, etc.
