Treatment of lung cancer

Treatments for lung cancer include:

(1) Surgical treatment: It is mainly used for the treatment of patients with stage 1 lung cancer. The one-year survival rate of stage 1 surgery alone is 80%, and the five-year survival rate is 50%. Early non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is mainly treated with surgery.

(2) Radiotherapy: For patients with early-stage NSCLC who refuse surgery, radical radiotherapy can be performed. Precision radiotherapy (stereotactic radiotherapy and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy) can achieve similar results to surgical treatment. Fractionated radiotherapy plus concurrent chemotherapy may improve the efficacy of stage III NSCLC, but the effect of preoperative radiotherapy is still uncertain. Postoperative three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) is better than conventional postoperative radiotherapy. For localized small cell lung cancer (SCLC), a comprehensive treatment model including concurrent chemoradiotherapy is better than a sequential model.

Radiofrequency ablation: For patients with early-stage lung cancer who cannot undergo surgical resection, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) can achieve better mid- and long-term outcomes. RFA will become an effective treatment for lung cancer.

Traditional Chinese Medicine: Traditional Chinese Medicine treats lung cancer based on syndrome differentiation and treatment. It can be used as a part of comprehensive treatment or as an auxiliary treatment method.
